Join our cake club!

Cushion & Cake are joining forces with other cake fans and businesses on Old Dumbarton Road to create the Old Dumbarton Road Cake Club!

The idea of the club is simple. Everyone brings a cake, we all eat said cake and chat about it. We will meet monthly in venues on and around Old Dumbarton Road and each club meeting will have a theme.

Our club is open to ALL bakers, novice or pro, everyone is welcome. It is not a competition, just a chance to meet like minded folk and share baking hints and tips. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and will be limited.

Our first meeting will be held in Cushion & Cake on Thursday 4th July and the theme will be AMERICAN BAKES! How you interpret this theme is up to you. When booking we will ask you to submit your proposed cake to ensure we don’t have lots of one cake.

7pm start but feel free to pop in to have your cake displayed magnificently.

We are big sweet fans here so initially we will permit only cakes including cupcakes, brownies etc, no savouries but if over time there is a demand, we will of course reconsider.

We are full for the 4th July but if you want to join in next month, add your name to the mailing list here complete your details here

Cushion & Cake at West End Festival Parade 9th June

Monday, 17 June 2013

We had a blast last Sunday when the C&C team took the tearoom al fresco! The West End Festival parade was back, closing the min street in Glasgow’s West End for stalls, music and general fun stuff.

We had a little stall, a lemonade stall. it was very cute. We made and enormous amount of homemade lemonade which we later completely ran out of that day! You just never know how much stuff you’ll need… we sold most of our cakes too. Just as well as any leftovers would have to be eaten by ME! 2013-06-09 12.09.18 We took the tearoom feel outdoors with out bunting, tablecloths, foliage, teapots of flowers and our homemade lemonade sign. I got an old board, drilled holes in either end, painted it yellow and voila! Ready to paint my letters.

2013-06-09 12.17.05It was a super hot sunny day, we were really lucky with the weather, You never can tell in Glasgow, but we had lots of happy customers and lots of our regulars popped by to see us as well as meeting new Cushion & Cakers!

DSCF9794Natasha and I had drafted in some help in the shape of Barry our friend, enormous cake enthusiast and extremely good at serving lemonade to the masses in an orderly fashion!

So that’s all for now…If you didn’t get to visit our lemonade stall, we’ll be adding it to our menu over the Summer months.
